Buzzcocks, and Tinchy Stryder, to headline CockRock

first acts announced for Cockermouth Rock Festival

Punk icons Buzzcocks, and recent chart topper Tinchy Stryder have been announced as headliners for this year's Cockermouth Rock Festival or 'CockRock'.

Also confirmed to appear in this the festival's 8th year are The Subways, Doctor and the Medics, Rhys and Eggsy with Goldie Lookin' Chain Soundsystem, Chris Helme, Pikey Beatz, Five and Dangerous, Cat Like Thief, Colt 45, and Solway Deltas.

Also confirmed today are Karl Phillips & The Midnight Ramblers, The Lottery Winners, Dub Pistols Soundsystem, Albany Down, Alex Elliott, AWOL, Collision, Committed To Rock Choir, Crow Dog, Daddysmilk, Flick, Gavin McKew, Highly Strung, and House Of Three Hands.

Heading for Cockermouth will also be Jeramiah Ferrari, Leroy Johnson & the Flicks, Mama-Sang And The Robot, Obrigado, Rebel Territory, Room 101, Rossi Noise, Secure Unit, Sneaky Finch, Solway Deltas, Southgate and Leigh, Teenage Mary, The Indices, The Lights, The Stiggz, The Sun Explodes, Tin Soldiers, Vertigo.

The Friday night headliner, and even more acts are still to be announced for the main stages as well as line up's for Tent 42, Jambeater Reggae Tent, The Session Stage and The Dance Tent.

Clint Stamper, CockRock chairman, is quoted as saying, "We are delighted to be able to announce these big name artists for the festival, the 2012 line-up has a diverse mix of local, young and independent bands as well as more mainstream acts such as Tinchy Stryder.

"Not only are we dedicating a lot of time to securing our line up but we've also invested a lot into improving attractions across the whole site. We hope that this combined with our low ticket prices ensures an affordable but equally fantastic festival for all members of the family, and there's still even more bands to be announced!"

The festival returns from Friday 20th until Sunday 22nd July at Wellington Farm, Cockermouth. with music, stalls, food outlets, extra bars as well as many events for all the family.

The festival is a non profit event set up to help raise money for two local causes, the Cockermouth Mountain Rescue and The Pride of Cumbria, as well as to encourage and promote local bands and musicians.

An adult weekend ticket is priced at £50, or £60 with camping. A young adult (aged 13-17) weekend ticket is priced at £40, or £45 with camping. Adult day tickets are priced at £27.50, a young adult day ticket is priced at £25. Children aged 12 years and under and OAP'S(Females - 60, Males - 65) can attend for free.
