eFestivals understands that Green Day will be making a guest appearance at this weekend's Reading Festival.
It has been heavily rumoured that the band will also play Reading and a source has revealed to eFestivals that Billie Joe Armstrong & co will be appearing in the NME tent on Saturday afternoon at Reading (but will not be appearing at Leeds).
The band are touring Europe this month will festival dates including Japan's Summer Sonic and France's Rock En Seine. The band are also gearing up to release a new album-trilogy '¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, ¡Tré!', which will be released in three stages. The first album '¡Uno!'is due at the end of next month, the second LP '¡Dos!' is released in November, with the concluding '¡Tré!' set to drop in January next year.
A couple of days ago singer Armstrong, also hinted at the appearance when he posted on Webstagram, (here), a picture of himself on stage and the message, "Hello England! What rhymes with shredding??!!"
The twin festivals take place on the bank holiday weekend, from Friday 24th to Sunday 26th August. Reading Festival takes place at Little Johns Farm, Richfield Avenue, Reading, Berkshire.
The opening night is headlined by The Cure with their only UK shows this year, Kasabian will make their only festival appearances in England and Wales of 2012 on Saturday night, and Foo Fighters close Reading on Sunday with their only UK appearances of the year.
Also confirmed are The Maccabees, At The Drive-In, Justice, Metronomy, Paramore and The Black Keys with their only UK festival appearances, Florence + The Machine, Kaiser Chiefs, Bullet For My Valentine, All Time Low, The Gaslight Anthem, Bombay Bicycle Club, You Me At Six, Crystal Castles, Angels & Airwaves, Coheed & Cambria, Cancer Bats, Deaf Havana, The Vaccines, Enter Shikari, The Shins, OFWGKTA, Mystery Jets, Blood Red Shoes, Eagles Of Death Metal, Band Of Skulls, Pulled Apart By Horses, Foster the People, The Courteeners, The Cribs, Billy Talent, Miike Snow, Two Door Cinema Club, The Horrors, SBTRKT, Katy B, Azealia Banks, and Jaguar Skills.

Early entry tickets enabling festival goers to get into the site on the Wednesday are priced at £15, with campervan passes priced at £60, and lockers £15. Day tickets are £85 for Friday or Saturday, as Sunday day tickets, and £197.50 weekend tickets have sold out.
Tickets are limited to a maximum of four per person and per credit card for those booking online. U16s (15 & under) must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Children under 13 (12 and under) are admitted free but MUST be accompanied by a ticket holding adult. Please note there is no separate children's area at this event, and eFestivals considers this an event not really suitable for small children.
