Pioneer of hip hop and electro funk, Afrika Bambaataa, has been announced for Wales' Kaya Festival which returns for a second year to the grounds of the Vaynol Estate near Bangor, North Wales, over the Bank holiday weekend, from Friday 1st until Sunday 3rd June 2012.

Organisers said, "This legend represents decades of talent and creativity; from being the leader of the New York street gang Black Spades to creating the global, ground-breaking Universal Zulu Nation in the 70s and spreading the hip hop culture as the Grandfather of hip hop. Bam has received several prominent awards for his impact on the music scene such as the Billboards Founders of Hip Hop Award in 2005, while being honoured for the VH1 Hip Hop Honours and was nominated in 2007 for the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. He has worked with everyone from Grandmaster Flash to James Brown and Kaya can't wait to welcome him to the stunning Vaynol Estate in North Wales."

The World music festival celebrating diversity, music and arts from around the globe will also host Soweto Kinch, Mad Professor, Celloman, The Selecter, Thabani, Joe Driscoll & Seckou Kouyate, Howard Marks, Batch Gueye & The Band, Drymbago, Trojan Records, Legend, The Venus Bushfires, Domingo Candelario, Batala Bangor, Talisman, Captain Accident, and Oi Brasil!.

Kaya hopes to offer an assortment of African, Jamaican, Caribbean and world musical flavours along with a diverse range of workshops, food stalls and festival activities.

To this end the festival hosts world food stalls, a cocktail and real ale bar along with lots of arts crafts and activities for children and adults. This year they will have the Kayak Cabaret showcasing Comedy, Spoken word, Theatre of the absurd and the Healing fields offering Yoga, Tai Chi, Holistic workshops all set amidst the tranquil surroundings of the Vaynol estate.

Weekend campers will be able to arrive on Friday 24th May and there will be entertainment featuring 'The Best Of Wales' – local and national Welsh talent in a small venue on site before the festival opens officially on the 25th.

The early bird offer has ended. A weekend camping ticket is priced at £60. Concessions and teens (14-17) tickets are priced at £55. There are no age restrictions for those attending the Kaya festival, but anyone under-16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult aged 18 or older. Children (0-14) get free entry but will still need a ticket. A campervan ticket is priced at £30, and a day car park pass is priced at £7.
