American metalcore act Killswitch Engage are the first headliner to be confirmed for the south-east's Hevy Music Festival, who are celebrating the fifth year of the event this summer.

Killswitch Engage
Killswitch Engage will top the Sunday line-up in what will be their ONLY festival in the UK this summer. Plus eight more UK festival exclusive appearances from American Me, Eyehategod, Give 'Em Blood, Liferuiner, More Than Life, Raein, Xerxes, and The Catharsis Coliseum.

Other new additions to the bill have been announced as Black Dogs, Earthtone9, Empress, Goodtime Boys, Polar, and It Prevails.

Killswitch Engage frontman Jesse Leach said, "We are super excited to be on Hevy Fest this year! With a long list of punk, hardcore, and metal bands to do this in the past it is an honour! From what we have heard this year has a killer line up so again we are all excited for this! This is really my kind of festival with the diversity of bands and what seems to be a more down to earth atmosphere than your run of the mill fest. Looking forward to bringing the rage in August!"

They join Black Flag as a UK exclusive, plus Hatebreed, Comeback Kid, Horse The Band, Full Of Hell, Circle Takes The Square, and Code Orange Kids, are all UK Exclusives, with The Menzingers, Metz, Tigers Jaw, Heights, BossK, Palm Reader, Mine, and The Catharsis, with Saturday headliners and another 40 acts to be confirmed.

Update: Port Lympne Wild Animal Park has just announced, today Wednesday 24th April, that Hevy, will not be held on the 600 acre estate this year.

Port Lympne Wild Animal Park say that festival organisers were in talks early in 2013, looking to rent the site for the fourth year in a row, however no agreement was reached and no contract was signed.

The news was issued today after management at the wild animal park had noticed repeated social media posts and press releases stating that the festival was to be held on the grasslands area - located outside the wild animal park.

Port Lympne Wild Animal Park said, "In a move for total transparency, concerned management wanted to ensure that festival goers, some of which, have already purchased tickets via the music events' website and ticket sales sites, were aware that they would not be enjoying the music event in the advertised location in 2013."

Carole Thomas, Head of Communications expalined, "At no point was an agreement or contract signed to hold the Hevy festival here at the grasslands in 2013. I have no idea where the event will be held - and I hope those that have already purchased tickets, will get answers to the questions they may have about where the event is to be held."

Expect over 80 acts to appear over the weekend of Friday 2nd until Sunday 4th August 2013, although whether the dates reamin the same, as organisers seek a new home, remains to be seen. eFestivals will bring you news of a new location once we have it.

Weekend tickets are priced at £99 including camping. To buy tickets, click here.

Please note that this is an age 14+ only event.
