The Wickerman announces Rock Royalty theme

With Royal Baby mania in full swing, Wickerman festival happening on Friday 26th and Saturday 27th July has revealed a suitably regal fancy dress theme of 'Rock Royalty'.

Organisers are encouraging visitors to pay homage to their favourite musical kings and queens by donning their signature look.  Festival golf, cinema screenings, laser quest, dance workshops, and a 'seven deadly sins' journey through the human body are amongst this year's Wicker highlights.

Festival goers can also sample the Yoga and Chi Kung sessions on offer, or for the energetic there is Mountain biking, grass sledging, segway riding, team games and a rodeo bull available.

For £3 per day, children can enjoy a host of fun activities in the Scottish festival's dedicated Children’s Area. All admission charge proceeds will be donated towards educating an African orphan who the festival sponsor. Storytelling sessions, singalongs, art workshops puppet shows, face painting and magic clowns are just some of the highlights that will keep children entertained.

Primal Scream will headline Friday, and Amy Macdonald Saturday. From indulging your competitive streak in a new sporting activity to achieving zen with a spot of festival yoga, this year’s programme really does offer something for everyone, both adults and children alike.

"Our 'Rock Royalty' theme will not only celebrate the Royal Baby but people's musical heroes and we can’t wait to see a host of creative costumes.

As always, the weekend festivities will be brought to a spectacular close with the crowd-gathering tradition of burning the 40ft Wickerman statue at midnight on Saturday.

Ticket prices are £95 for Weekend adult tickets, £47.50 for Weekend concession tickets, £65 for Saturday adult tickets with tickets free for under 12's. For all those taking caravans or campervans to Wickerman a basic pitch is priced at £40 or £90 for a pitch including an electric hook up.

Everyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult and bring proof of age - anyone without proof of ID will be liable to pay the full adult ticket price at the gate. We also recommend anyone who looks under 21 to bring ID with them. The ages shown on the tickets refer to the age of the child/concession on the day of the festival (not the age at time of purchase).
