Daily capacity: 79,999

Last night the nautical themed Bestival happening on the Isle of Wight were told their new licence which sees this year's capacity increase to 79,999 people had been approved.

The festival which will be holding its 10th Birthday celebrations from Thursday 5th until Sunday 8th September 2013 at Robin Hill Country Park, previously had a capacity of 50,000.

The news was delivered to festival organisers at last night's Full Council Meeting by Councillor Jonathan Bacon, the cabinet member for planning and regulatory services. It was decided that the matter did not need a hearing because all the issues raised during the earlier period of representation had now been addressed by organisers.

Bestival Directors explained, whilst capacity increases there won't be any more public tickets on sale. "Our new festival license for 79,999 people is in place to cope with the demands of our huge creative and site build teams, as well as the vast number of artists and crews that perform at the festival. We are still only selling 55,000 tickets for festival-goers. No other shows of this size have so many stages and artists, so the capacity increase allows us to keep growing the entertainment at the festival year on year while keeping the festival's boutique ethos.

Bestival is headlined by Fatboy Slim, Elton John and Snoop Dogg, plus MIA, Franz Ferdinand, Flaming Lips, The Knife, Wu-Tang Clan, Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox, Annie Mac Presents, and so many more. The festival also features a new arena The Port, Films in the Forest, World Music Day on the Bandstand, The Wishing Tree, Swamp Shack, The Grand Palace of Entertainment, and much more.

As well as the music, Bestival has the world's biggest fancy dress party for 50,000 festival goers. The festival also offers a vibrant mix of cocktail bars, laughter clubs, a farmers market, kids area, dancing, magical moments and more, as one of the most colourful events on the festival calendar.
