Thrash-metallers Slayer, and making their only UK festival appearance American rockers Alice in Chains lead the latest acts for Sonisphere's celebration of 40 years of festivals at Knebworth Park, Hertfordshire next summer from Friday 4th until Sunday 6th July 2014.
Slayer return to Sonisphere, following their 2011 performance as part of the Big 4 line-up alongside Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax. Guitarist Kerry King says, "Great to be back at Sonisphere this year!! Always a giant party!!!”
Swedish doom-rockers Ghost, French prog-metallers Gojira, and Australian five-piece Karnivool will all making their only UK festival appearances in 2014 at Knebworth.
Also appearing are Mastodon who return to Sonisphere, following their 2011 performance, as yet another exclusive addition to the 2014 bill. Their performance at Sonisphere will be the first chance for British fans to see them play tracks from their forthcoming sixth album, due out in the spring.
Concluding the latest raft of additions joining the previoously announced headliners The Prodigy, Iron Maiden,and Metallica are Aussie rockers Airbourne.
Many more bands, including two special guests, will be announced shortly.
Tickets are priced at £170 or £205 with camping, plus booking fees. A car parking pass is £18 and a campervan pass is £65.
The festivals is for all ages, under 16s accompanied by an adult 18+. Children under 5 are not advised but will be admitted. The campsite will opens on Thursday 3rd July at 1pm and will close at midday on Monday 7th July with the arena opening at 10am on Friday 4th July.
