More acts have been unveiled for the Desert Island Disco themed Bestival which takes place at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight, this weekend from Thursday 4th until Sunday 7th September 2014.
The event will have Guinness World Record judges on site this weekend to see if Bestival curator Rob da Bank has succeeded in the challenge laid down by disco legend Nile Rodgers to create the world's biggest disco ball — over 10 metres. The ball will make an appearance this weekend and the judges will be on hand to confirm whether it's a record breaker.
The Big Top Stage will host SOHN, Lucky Elephant, Beans on Toast, Shed, Years And Years, and The Dollymopps and on Thursday night the Wall of Sound 20th Anniversary celebrations with Back To The Phuture, Mark Jones, Reverend And The Makers, Ekkoes, and Kids On Bridges.
Commenting on the Wall of Sound’s 20th Anniversary celebrations in the Big Top, Mark Jones said, "It’s an honour and pleasure for Wall of Sound to go Back to the Phuture at Bestival this year. The last few years have been great opening the Big Top with amazing artists and this year is very special. To get the label to this graph point was always my objective... lets have some fun fun fun."
The Matua Sessions will see live sets from Deers, Hockeysmith, Ady Suleiman, Gorgeous George, Paper Boats, Iyes, Cloud Boat, MALKA, Fake Bush, Immigrant Swing, The Jenova Collective, John Fairhurst, Plastic Mermaids, Our Mother, Molly Beanland, and Princesses, plus DJ sets from Dan Le Sac, Peter Callard (DJ set), Chris Coco, Goldierocks, Ro$$ Kemp, jim8track, DJ Dapper Dan, and Ollie Munts.
Whilst the new music stage Invaders from the Future will be home to Astronomyy, Beaty Heart, Ergo, Rage on Gold, Mr B The Gentleman Rhymer, and Rag & Bone Man.
Other line-up additions include Too Many T's, New Build, Goldierocks, Paul Woolford, Johnno, House of Disco DJs, Park Ranger, Kwabs, MALKA, Kry Wolf, Aldo Vanucci, Hadda, Taches, Idiot Savant, Monkeylove Stunt Team, DJ Nipsey, Richie Phoe, and JFB.
Completing the line-up additions for The Order of Never Hide will be DJs including Nicky Holloway, Tythe, Phil Mison, Sombrero Sound System, Warm DJs, jim8track, Thomas Urv, Reverend Milo, and Roy The Roach.
The Thursday headliner is Beck, Friday it's Outkast, Saturday is topped by Foals, and Sunday's headliner is Chic featuring Nile Rodgers. The final few tickets including entry from Thursday are priced at £195 for Adult Tickets and £127 for Teen (age 13-17) Tickets. Tickets for children (age 12 & under) are free (but must have a ticket). A campervan ticket is priced at £90 and a caravan £101 (per vehicle), and car parking is priced at £15 advance (or £20 cash on arrival).
