Organisers of the 23rd Rhythms of the World festival have announced that the festival will once more be held in the grounds of Hitchin Priory, in Hertfordshire but on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st June 2015, rather than this year's early August date.
Rhythms of the World (ROTW) is a registered charity (no. 1090835) led by volunteers. The charity aims to unite communities through the arts by organising a festival of music, dance, art and cuisine from ‘around the World and round the corner’. ROTW is among the largest celebrations of world music and arts in the UK.
"We were determined to build on the success of the 2014 festival and it’s great to be able to announce the 2015 date now," said Amy Hopkins, Chair of the charity. "We will all be working hard for the next few months to bring news of artists, ticket prices and other developments as soon as we can and we hope we can encourage lots of sponsors, advertisers, traders and volunteers to get involved early."
Applications to volunteer for Rhythms of the World 2015 are always welcome and there are a number of roles throughout the year, as well as those on the weekend itself, when it’s all hands to the pump. To find out more go to www.rotw.org.uk/contact.
The event for all ages and musical tastes, offers rock, pop, folk, reggae, jazz and classical music from the local area and around the world.
Thierry Viatge, general manager of Hitchin Priory, said: "We’re already making plans to welcome Rhythms of the World back to Hitchin Priory and the team are really looking forward to it. We’ve also agreed dates for future festivals because the Board at Chartridge Venues, which owns Hitchin Priory, are delighted to support such a great community event."
In addition to the annual festival, ROTW bring elements of the Rhythms of the World ethos to people who might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience the event’s spirit through their Rhythms of the World Community Outreach Programme. It is one of their charitable objectives to provide a stimulus to the arts in the region and they aim to involve people from across the community – different ages, races, backgrounds, abilities and musical tastes.
Their Community Outreach Programme involves local schools and community groups in the arts, whilst their events entitled Rhythms of the World Presents take the festival ethos to a wider audience through a range of musical performances.
