David Byrne curator of The Southbank Centre's 22nd Meltdown festival has unveiled the first acts for the line-up.

Meltdown 2015, the 14-day event in August this year, will see Byrne create a line-up over the duration of the festival of not just music, but also debate and installations.

Not surprisingly one of Byrne's most recent collaborations Atomic Bomb! Who Is William Onyeabor? is the first name to be announced. The touring supergroup who play the music of Nigerian funk musician William Onyeabor and have included live appearances by Byrne as a special guest.

Also confirmed are a wealth of talent from around the globe including Chicago-based Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Spain's Estrella Morente, and Maria Rodes, Bianca Casady, Sunn O))), Russia's Phurpa, Psapp, Carmen Consoli, Benjamin Clementine, Petra Haden, Gamelan, Anna Calvi, Matthew Herbert, John Luther Adams - Across A Distance, Lonnie Holley , David Longstreth of Dirty Projectors, Gabi, Francois & The Atlas Mountains, Zun Zun Egui, Germany's Gob Squad - Western Society, Young Marble Giants, and Young Jean Lee's We're Gonna Die performed by Future Wife, with David Byrne himself.

Meltdown takes place over all 21 acres of the Southbank Centre, including the riverside, Royal Festival Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall. The dates for Meltdown 2015 are confirmed as Monday 17th until Sunday 30th August 2015.

Ticket prices vary depending upon event. Tickets go on sale from Friday 8th May at 10am and eFestivals will have links to buy them then.
