Ward Thomas, and Sharon Corr have just been added to the bill for this weekend's Isle of Wight Festival which takes place at Newport's Seaclose Park from Thursday 11th until Sunday 14th June 2015.
This year marks 45 years since Jimi Hendrix played the festival, and in his honour the main stage will be named 'The Electric Church'. Festival organiser John Giddings has announced that he is inviting festival-goers at the event this weekend to participate in a world record attempt. At 3.30pm on Saturday 13th June all those present at the Electric Church, will wear special Jimi Hendrix masks to commemorate 45 years since he played the festival, and break the record for most people in the same place wearing masks at the same time. All money made from the sale of masks will go the the festival's chosen charity, WellChild.
John Giddings said, "Jimi’s impact on the island and to popular music cannot be underestimated. His inspiration lives on today and is present each year in the artists performing this year. We wanted to celebrate the 45th anniversary by doing something fun with everyone at the festival this year. By buying a Jimi mask people can not only take part in this special celebration but also help raise money for our partner charity WellChild."
