DF Concerts & Events, organisers of T in the Park, have announced they have added to their team to deal with solving the traffic and access problems at last year’s event after it moved to it's new home - Strathallan Castle.
The festival made it's debut at the 19th century castle near Auchterader last year and experiencedd 'teething problems' that it had long since ironed out when it had been held at Balado since 1997.
Last year there were reports of traffic problems at the site, long delays entering and leaving the castle, with some revellers forced to sleep in their cars and stay on the site and director Geoff Ellis apologised for the traffic delays and congestion at the new site.
T in the Park have made a series of management appointments as part of a re-structure of the festival’s operational team in response to these problems.
The operational team now includes a new security manager, traffic manager and site management company.
There are two new positions, former T in the Park Police event commander, Colin Brown, will be security manager, and former road police inspector Ian Martin takes on the role of traffic manager. Both have worked on T in the Park in their former Police Scotland roles.
In addition APL Events, who have previously managed Creamfields and Download have been appointed to look after site management this year.
The event team are currently working on a 'full improvement plan' of solutions to site and security issues which will be revealed in full in the coming months after feedback from agencies including Police Scotland, Traffic Scotland and Perth and Kinross Council as well as festival goers and local residents.
Much of the line-up for the event is still underwraps, Friday's headliners, The Stone Roses, were the first act to be announced with Disclosure, The 1975, and Courteeners the only other acts on the bill for the 23rd edition, returning to Strathallan Castle in Perthshire over full three days from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th July 2016.
A Thursday weekend with camping ticket is priced at £205, a Friday weekend with camping ticket is priced at £194, and a Friday Weekend (No Camping)ticket is priced at £184.
