P J Harvey confirmed for Sunday at Glastonbury Festival

P J Harvey will join headliners Coldplay, and Jeff Lynne's Electric Light Orchestra on the bill for the final day of Glastonbury Festival 2016.

Emily Eavis tweeted, (here), "Very excited to say that PJ Harvey is coming back to Glastonbury for the first time since 2004, playing the Other Stage on Sunday."

She also told 6 Music at the NME Awards last night that organisers will be doing a tribute to David Bowie, something visually very interesting and musical performances but probably not what people expect, and that the next headliners is expected to be announced in the next couple of weeks.

There's also more headliner speculation in the press, with Metro (here) revealing Emily Eavis told here, "We've got three brilliant British bands headlining the festival, although I haven’t actually told anyone that yet!"

They also report her father Michael Eavis confirmed that Foo Fighters won’t be playing this year.

Loaded online have interesting line-up news, they're saying they can exclusively reveal who two of the Other Stage headliners are (here), revealing that Bring Me The Horizon, and New Order will headline the Other Stage at Glastonbury in June.

Bring Me The Horizon singer Oli Sykes told Loaded at last night's NME Awards, "I'm not supposed to tell anyone about it but, yeah, we’re going to be playing Glastonbury. We’re trying to step out of our comfort zone and appeal to people who we wouldn’t normally appeal to. We’re doing that in a lot of ways this year. As well as the festival we may or not be playing, we’re also playing with a choir and a full orchestra for Teenage Cancer Trust at The Royal Albert Hall in London."

Loaded also reveal that Coldplay and Bring Me The Horizon will clash on the Sunday, New Order will play the Other Stage on Saturday 25th June, the same day they believe Adele will headline the Pyramid Stage. A source told Loaded, "Although New Order are veterans, they’ve still got an alternative appeal, so it makes them a nice alternative for Glastonbury fans who see Adele as very mainstream." Loaded also believe Muse are expected to be confirmed as headliners on the Friday once the line-up is officially announced in early April.

Elsewhere it's bering reported that Emily Eavis said Prince will never play Glastonbury Festival, saying, "I don't think he will ever play."

Coldplay are the first headline act to be confirmed and are the first act to headline the Festival on four occasions, following previous Pyramid Stage headline appearances in 2002, 2005 and 2011. The Glastonbury performance will be Coldplay’s only festival show of this year’s A Head Full Of Dreams Tour.

Tickets for this year have sold out. For those still hoping to get tickets, there is good news. There will be a re-sale in Spring, but the number of tickets will, as expected be limited. 

Car park passes priced at £35 will be available when paying the ticket balance in April. It is not possible to book Car Park tickets until the balance for at least one of the tickets on the booking has been paid.

The dates for the 2016 Festival will be from Wednesday 22nd to Sunday 26th June. Expect something like 2,000 performances at over 100 venues including music, cabaret, theatre, circus, a fantastic Kidz area, poetry, green crafts and information, site art, decor, and loads, loads more ... much more than just the music, so make sure you check it all out!
