Organisers of T in the Park are to release the details of important changes to the festival over the next few weeks today it's news of significant alterations to the main arena .

Following a thorough multi-agency debrief and feedback from fans, the alterations include a significant increase in size, a new improved layout and stage positioning, extra signage and a new security system.

Organisers have acquired additional land to increase the size of the arena by a third and all of the biggest music stages - including the Main Stage, Radio 1 Stage, King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut Tent and the Slam Tent - will be relocated to new, improved areas. King Tut’s will have open sides to allow more festival goers to watch performances, and fan favourites Cocktail Cocktail and Healthy T - which will now be known as TasteT – will also be moved following fan feedback.

This new design is to prevent congestion or bottlenecks and will give fans significantly more space to move around. There will also be an increase in clear signage and directions throughout the arena, as well as new, improved and easily identifiable Help Teams. This year, the festival will also introduce new zone managers to oversee increased numbers of well-briefed stewards across the site. The zone managers will be directly linked by radio to festival management, which means that fans will know exactly where to go should they have any questions or need any assistance throughout the weekend.

These big changes come as part of a major management re-structure of the festival. Most significantly Melvin Benn, Managing Director of Festival Republic who was brought in last year after the de-brief process, to oversee T in the Park as an Executive Producer and he has been the key change in planning this year’s event.

Under his direction T in the Park have appointed a new Traffic Manager, Security Manager and Site Management Company. Former T in the Park Police Event Commander, Colin Brown, was appointed as Security Manager, while former Road Police Inspector, Ian Martin, took on the role of Traffic Manager. APL Events, renowned for their work on some of the UK’s biggest music festivals, were brought on board to manage the site.

Geoff Ellis, Festival Director and CEO of DF Concerts & Events, said, "Our fans are our number one priority and we’ve listened to all of their feedback from last year and now we’re putting that into action. These changes will ensure that watching the wide array of amazing artists at the stages, as well as moving around the main arena, will be much more comfortable and a positive experience for all fans, ultimately making T in the Park 2016 a year to remember for all the right reasons – brilliant music and outstanding entertainment enjoyed with your best mates."

Colin Brown, Head of Security at T in the Park, added, "This year, fans will notice a visible increase in the numbers of stewards on hand in the main arena. These stewards will be fully briefed to ensure they can provide fans with the correct information. We’ve made sure that communication between the stewards and festival management is seamless - with our specially appointed zone managers being connected at all times - allowing us to resolve any issues as quickly and effectively as possible. Fans will be able to find a member of our team easily for assistance at any time with any questions or assistance, no matter how big or small."

Unsigned acts are reminded that entry to T Break closes tomorrow night at midnight.

The 23rd edition sees the event for 92,000 music fans return to Strathallan Castle in Perthshire over full three days from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th July 2016.
