Organisers of Summer Days at Clitheroe Castle have announced the event has been cancelled. A spokesman for Summer Days said, "After serious consideration we are heartbroken to announce that Summer Days festival 2016 will not take place. We have looked at every angle possible to keep the event live but due to a combination of factors including rising cost and newly arisen logistical obstacles we have no choice but to call Summer Days off.

"Support for Summer Days has been both incredible and humbling and makes this decision all the harder. You have our heartfelt apologies. Thank you again for all your support."

Summer Days Festival was due to take place from Wednesday 6th, to Saturday 9th July 2016 in the grounds of Clitheroe Castle in the Ribble Valley in Lancashire.

The festival will have two live stages featuring more than 30 artists, a locally sourced gourmet food village and a dedicated real ale area.

The festival's line-up was to include Simply Red, Jools Holland and the Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, Echo and the Bunnymen, Peter Hook and the Light, The Christians, Gabrielle, Andrew Roachford, The Steve Norman Band, Caro Emerald, Tom Robinson, Hugh Cornwell, Mike Peters, Shed Seven, The Farm, Space, The Neville Staple Band, Everything Everything, Circa Waves, Lightning Seeds, John Power, Mystery Jets, Milltown Brothers, and The Rainband.
