KT Tunstall, Newton Faulkner, Show of Hands, The Blockheads, and Foy Vance, are amongst the new names announced for Towersey Festival's 53rd year, again located in fields at Thame Showground, in Oxfordshire over the Bank Holiday weekend of Friday 25th to Monday 28th August 2017.
Other new music acts announced are Flook, The Demon Barbers XL, The Eskies, Merry Hell, Andy Cutting, Dallahan, Vera Van Heeringen, The Epstein, Frumptarn Guggen Band , and Van Susans.
They'll also be '36 hours of Ceilidh and dance' with new additions The Flatville Aces, Diatonics, Banter, The Original Rabbit Foot Spasm Band, and Jigalots, while there's also spoken word and comedy from The Adventures Of Andy Kershaw, Rob Deering, Debs Newold, Biscuit Head & The Biscuit Badgers, Patrick Ashcroft, Chris Cole, and Jake Evans.
They join the previously announced acts with include Jon Boden, Eliza Carthy and The Wayward Band, Lindisfarne, Flook, Gary Stewart's Graceland, Coope Boyes & Simpson, and many more.
The festival features a professional programme of folk and roots music, ceilidhs, international dance teams, family entertainers, workshops and a Children's Festival which incorporates entertainment, music, puppetry, circus skills and craft workshops.
Tickets are priced £126 (plus camping £25 extra)
Youth (12-17yrs) £88 (Camping £25 extra)
Child (5-11yrs) £57 (Camping no extra)
Tickets for children aged under 5 are free - they must be ticketed.
Towersey has developed in the last few years from a very Folky event into a more eclectic festival with a fair amount of World and broader acoustic music, singer songwriters stage, poetry, street theatre etc.
