The first acts have been revealed for Sea Change Festival , which takes place within and around Totnes, South Devon, over the August Bank Holiday weekend of Friday 24th and Saturday 25th August 2018.

With stages curated by Bella Union, Erased Tapes, Fire Records, Earth Recordings and Moshi Moshi, there's Welsh singer-songwriter Gwenno, Lost Horizons, Toronto's The Weather Station, Andrew Weatherall, Hater, Penelope Isles, Red River Dialect, Boy Azooga, Sweet Baboo, Hatis Noit, and Group Listening. Many more acts will be announced over the coming weeks.

Sea Change presents music, panel talks, films and events in the Barrel House Ballroom, 15th century St Mary's Church, 1960s Civic Hall, restored Victorian Totnes Cinema, two micro-breweries and other small spaces. As part of that Sea Change and Earth Recordings are thrilled to present 'The Ballad of Shirley Collins'. One of the most important singers of English traditional song, Shirley Collins was at the heart of the folk music revival of the 1960s and 1970s. The film takes us back to her 1959 field-recording-collecting trip through the Deep South with Alan Lomax, during which they amassed the music that would later inspire the soundtrack to the Coen Brothers’ film O Brother Where Art Thou?; and it comes right up to date with footage from the sessions for Shirley’s first album of new recordings in almost four decades.

Sea Change founder, Rupert Morrison, said, “We are so excited to be returning and to be able to share the first gems that will be strung from venue-to-venue through Totnes in August.”
