This year, the Big Tent Festival (Scotland's Festival of Stewardship), will be held in Falkland, Fife, from 26th to Sunday 27th July 2008.

The festival is usually focused around a central theme, based on ways in which we can make a positive difference to the world. The theme for 2008 has not been announced.

The compere for the weekend is Phil Kay. Headlining on Saturday evening is King Creosote and the Fence Collective and closing the festival on Sunday evening will be The Peatbog Faeries.

There will also be theatre performances to amuse the children, the Kata's: Tent of Connections, five giant Siberian tipi's designed to take you on an 'inspirational' and 'challenging' experience from a birds eye view of the world, to a side-ways take on stone, wood, water. Entertainment for all the family includes Grassroots, and Zimbabwe & the Chipolatas.

Debates, discussions and dialogues will offer visitors the chance to ask questions and engage with experts on big issues such as climate change, one world food and the future of wood.

There will also be drop-in workshops and exhibitions. A Stewardship Challenge will be launched for visitors to sign up and support efforts to reduce carbon footprints.

The film and poetry tent will show thought provoking films including new non-mainstream UK releases.

Other entertainment will involve storytelling, drumming, demonstrations on a range of traditional skills such as dry stone mortaring, stone sculpting, potting and wood carving, poetry, renga workshops, reflective sessions, dance workshops, face painting and a full range of children's activities including a sensory treasure trail developed for the festival, puppetry, dance, music workshops and craft.

Tickets are priced as follows: adult weekend tickets £14, £10 for concessions and prices per day: £8.00 (adult), £6.00(concession), under 12s are free. To buy ticket click here.

A campsite is added this year as well as a Food Village featuring local and organic. There will also be zones featuring environmental lifestyle, renewable energy, holistic therapies and treatments as well as a fantastic children's area. All this plus a dynamic programme of debates featuring the very best in 'Big Green Thinking' and contributions from writers, scientists, academics and inspiring individuals involved in safeguarding the future of Planet Earth.

The festival site is open from 10.30am until 10pm on both days.
