Canterbury Festival takes place from Saturday 19th October until Saturday 2nd November 2013, at various venues including Canterbury Cathedral, in Kent.

Line-up

Tallis Scholars, The Faulty Towers Dining Experience, Oysterband, Mikhail Rudy, Nova Music Opera presenting a UK premiere of a new opera by Sally Beamish 'Hagar in the Wilderness', Britten's 'Curlew River', Brother Wolf present their new show 'A Christmas Carol' as told by Jacob Marley (deceased), Lesley Garrett, Emma Johnson, and Adam Hills.

This year will also see the Festival bring a Spiegeltent to Canterbury for the two weeks. A Spiegeltent is a highly decorative, 1920s travelling dance hall and it will host a packed programme of theatre, music and cabaret. Highlights include Australian circus company Casus presenting their new show 'Knee Deep', The Boy With Tape on His Face, Nina Conti, cabaret with Lili La Scala, ahab, Feral Mouth, Sammy Rimington, and Lunasa.

This year also sees an increased number of family-friendly shows throughout the second week of the Festival, taking place daily at 2pm. Kicking off the family programme is children's script writer Andrew Barnett Jones with The Story Game. There will also be Baby Loves Disco, a party for the under 7s (and their parents!) and two shows with Squashbox Theatre combining puppetry, cabaret, music and natural history.

This year's theme has not yet been announced. As well as music there will other attractions, including comedy, theatre, arts, dance, performances, exhibitions and activities to suit all ages and tastes.

This event does not have camping but there are a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the area.
