The annual FolkEast festival takes place from Friday 16th to Sunday 18th August 2019, returning to the 300 acres of parkland site at Glemham Hall, in Suffolk.

Its seven stages include St Andrew’s Church, the open air Sunset Stage and the hidden woodland Soapbox Stage which is run entirely by solar power from a double decker bus. Plus Morris dancing from a variety of performers. Other attractions are sessions, walkabouts, storytellers, foragers pigeon pluckers, an instrument makers' festival, the FolkEast Art Arcade, donkey rides, children’s activities, yoga, poetry, storytelling, foraging walks and talks, horse drawn carriage rides and tours of Glemham Hall.

Line-up

Confirmed acts include headliners Richard Thompson, Karine Polwart, and Cara Dillon, plus Sharon Shannon Band, Sheelanagig, Ainslie and Henderson, John Smith, Blair Dunlop, Daphne's Flight, State of the Nation, Blackbeard's Tea Party, Calan, and more. There's more to be announced.

Festival patrons are Teesside-based trio The Young’uns who will work with FolkEast to promote folk music as a living tradition and will perform a special patron’s set at each future event.

The festival also offers ceilidhs, Morris teams, song, dance and instrument workshops, sessions, mardling marquees, local ales & fine food as well as a vintage tea tent, storytelling, traditional craft & art stalls and demonstrations, a fire sculpture garden that fires up at night and plenty of opportunities for children and adults alike to join in. Over the weekend you can take a break from the festival and walk or cycle to the local pub where more entertainment will be provided.

Please note that dogs are not allowed on the site and campfires are prohibited.

Getting there

Glemham Hall is just north of Ipswich and is easily accessible by road and rail. A shuttle service will operate between the site and Wickham Market Railway Station.
