Hatherleigh's annual music and arts festival is now in its 17th year and takes place from Thursday 26th until Sunday 29th July. This four day festival of Music, Art and Entertainment is themed this year around Gardens and will once again be centred around the Town Square Marquee.
Line-up
Thursday
Opening Parade and show: Hatherleigh Silver Band.Evening: Hatherleigh Silver Band, With Nell and I, Poisson Rouge, Roger & Christine Cleverdon and Claude & Cecelia Lamon.
Friday
During the day: workshops for Children and Adults. OCRA will be running two workshops on Friday, Yoga and Multisports, the children's centre will be running a Mini Olympics session and there is a Rag Rugging workshop and a Pottery Painting workshop.Evening: Music in the Square - Emma and the Convolutions, Matthew and Me, Saxon James, Hot Fiction.
Saturday
All day: Street market and food starting at 12 noon in the Market Square.Music: Josie Lloyd 'Traditional Tales' show, The Barefoot Bandit, The Monkey Gland Blues, Morning Rush, Scholars, and The Computers.
The Old Schools: sheep themed all day free drop in workshop for families to come together and make a communal piece of art, using sustainable dyed fleece that will be enjoyed by local people in to the future.
During the day: there will be workshops running. Family T Shirt Making is a free workshop for mums, dads and their children to create a t-shirt to keep. Hurdle Making with Ben May at his Forest Craft centre in Hatherleigh is an all day event which will enable you to make your own ash gate hurdle, useful in the garden or to keep stock in - £10 and booking is essential. Button Making and Bead Making workshops will be on in the community centre and there are 2 sessions for each.
Sunday
Day: Combined Church Service in Town Square at 11am with St Thomas Gospel Choir.Morning: Peter Robinson British Trust Ornitologist for a Bird Watching Walk on Hatherleigh, Peter will share his extensive knowledge of the bird life on the moor, bring binoculars if you have them, booking is required for this and the cost is only £2 for this 2 hour walk. The walk is from 8am to 10am.
Afternoon: an open air theatre production of Alan Aykbourn's 'Round and Round the Garden' tickets are £7 adults and £3 for children bring a blanket or your own chairs to make it a truly special afternoon there will be a bar and cream teas served.
Evening: Closing this year's event will be Roger Cleverdon and Combined Choirs present 'A Festival Evensong' with Coronation Music at St Johns Church.
On site
The Street Market, in the Town Square, offers crafts including unique jewellery, handmade glass, basket wear, floral creations and the quality eats gazebo, from lunchtime Saturday onwards, with Pig Roast, BBQ, Crepes, Fresh Fruit cups, and Creative Cupcakes with the local public houses only strides away.Art Exhibitions will be running over the 4 days at venues all over the town. An Abstract Art workshop led by local artist Patricia Lomax is planned to be held in the The Vine and work created here together with Patricia's own work will be exhibited throughout the four days.

This event does not have camping but there are a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the area.More information will be here when available.
