Lomond Folk Festival takes place from Friday 27th until Sunday 29th July 2012. Now in it's 13th year, this festival offers a blend of traditional folk music and song including concerts, sessions and workshops, as well as a craft fair, kid's entertainment and a camping/caravan site, all on the banks of Loch Lomond.

There is free music in the Village Square all day on Saturday and Sunday, and ticketed performances each evening, which usually includes a Ceilidh on Friday night, and concerts on Saturday and Sunday in the Festival Marquee.

Line-up

This year the festival is split over two sites in Balloch, one on the Moss o' Balloch, and the other at Loch Lomond Shores.

The Moss o' Balloch site offers a free open air stage with over 30 bands from 12pm-6pm Saturday & Sunday, plus a marquee with free workshops to get involved with, including hula hooping sessions and displays from local dance groups ranging from highland to street dancing.

Evening concerts at the Gateway Centre:
Friday: The Ian Anderson Céilidh Band + Mary K Burke Band
Saturday: Skerryvore + John Langan Band + Helensburgh & District Pipe Band + Folk Factor Winner: OLSP Trad Band
Sunday: Phil Cunningham & Aly Bain + The Paul McKenna Band + The Skunnered.

There's also a second free open air stage with another 30 bands playing from 12-6pm.

At the nearby Maid of The Loch, a stationary Victorian paddle steamer, there will be free music sessions hosted by Mary K Burke of Celtic Radio. From 1pm to 1am there is an open invitation to all musicians to come along for a big auld fashioned jam session (and of course, people are welcome to just go listen).

Tickets

Tickets for the evening concerts are priced at £10 for Friday, £15 for Saturday, and £18 for Sunday. A weekend ticket for all 3 shows is priced at £37.50. To buy tickets online, click here.

More info

There will also be a craft fair and market including stalls from local community groups. In the adjacent St Kessogs Church Hall there are free music workshops.

Camping

The folk festival campsite is at Lomond Shores. More information will be posted here when available.
