Now in it's 19th year the Monegros Desert Festival is a Spanish electronic music festival for 40,000+ which takes place in the desert of Monegros, Aragon on Saturday 21st July 2012. The multiple tented stages, and open areas attract an international audience to see acts from across the electronic music spectrum with the event starting at 5pm and offering 20 hours of dance music.

Currency

The desert oasis even has it's own money the Monegrino, the official currency, which is exchanged at one Euro to one Monegrino, and can be done once you arrive on site.

On site

There's the usual markets, bars, and food outlets.For its second edition, Monegros Festival includes street theatre and art installations to the festival with performances from International companies such La Fura Dels Baus (Spain), Close Act (Holland), Planete Vapeur (France), Les Chymeres (France), Comediants - 40th Aniversary (Spain), Sarruga (Spain) etc.

Getting there

The festival is situated in the Monegros desert, in the province of Huesca, between Madrid and Barcelona. Arriving in Madrid or Barcelona, by rail or area it's suggested that the Monegros Bus is the best option to avoid Spanish traffic. There are shuttle services from Madrid and Barcelona to the Monegros Site.

This event is not a camping event. There are buses to the nearby cities of Candasnos and Fraga.

This is an over 18s only event.
