The inspiration of Somerset-based Charles Hazlewood (classical conductor), and set in the grounds of Glastonbury Abbey, Orchestra in a Field takes place over the weekend of Saturday 30th June and Sunday 1st July 2012.

This event promises a varied musical programme, offering something for everyone with food from local producers, a Talk Tent, kids area, lighting and projection art, and more.

Line-up

This year's main concerts will be Mussorgsky's 'Pictures at an Exhibition' on June 30th, and Bizet's 'Carmen' on July 1st. The Mussorgsky piece will feature improvised replies to the orchestra supplied by Charles Hazlewood's All Star Collective, a 'supergroup' featuring Will Gregory from Goldfrapp, and Adrian Utley from Portishead.

Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture - Scrapheap Orchestra
Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells - Charles Hazlewood's All Star Collective featuring Goldfrapp's Will Gregory and Portishead's Adrian Utley, and other special guests preceded by 'A Rainbow in Curved Air'.

Sunday
Community Choir Sing-Off - in an X-Factor style with winners decided live by votes from the audience.
The British Paraorchestra - world premiere appearance of UK's first-ever national disabled orchestra.
Adrian Utley's Guitar Orchestra
Bizet's 'Carmen' - with an international cast, Excellent Device! and a chorus of hundreds.

Ticket information:

Full price day tickets are priced at £36 and £65 for a weekend ticket including camping at Worthy Farm, Pilton by kind permission of Michael Eavis, with a free shuttle and Park and Ride service running to and from the Abbey Grounds. Under 12s go free, and for students, concessions and under 18s, a weekend ticket including camping is £40 and a day ticket £20.
