BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend is a music festival run by BBC Radio 1, who will hold their annual free music festival in Exeter's Powderham Castle. This year the free festival will take place over three days from Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th May 2016.

This event is run in a different location within the United Kingdom each time. It is the biggest free live music event in the UK and always includes a host of new artists.

Line-up

Mumford & Sons will headline the first day, and the Sunday headliner is Coldplay. Also confirmed are Catfish & The Bottlemen, Bastille, Jess Glynne, The Weeknd, Biffy Clyro, The Last Shadow Puppets, Tame Impala, Chvrches, The 1975, Jake Bugg, Ellie Goulding, Chase & Status, Bring Me The Horizon, Craig David's TS5, Sigma, Nick Jonas, Meghan Trainor, Iggy Azalea, Kygo, OneRepublic,  Fetty Wap, Flume, Stormzy, Twenty One Pilots, Alessia Cara, Alesso, Jack Garratt, Panic At The Disco, Skepta, and Wolf Alice.

Latest additions are the BBC Introducing line-up featuring Barns Courtney, Cortes, Declan McKenna, Jealous of the Birds, Louis Berry, Reuel Elijah, Rosie Lowe, Shannon Saunders, Spring King, The Hunna, Tiny Folds, Wolfie, Alice Jemima, BB Diamond, Black Foxxes, Blossoms, Catholic Action, Emmi, Izzy Bizu, James Cherry, Kyko, Tobi Sunmola, Vital, and Yonaka.

The two-day event will feature three stages - the Main Stage, In New Music We Trust Stage and BBC Introducing Stage.

Tickets

Tickets were free and could be obtained through a lottery. There is no charge for the concert itself, but a handling fee per ticket will be applied to help cover all associated ticket handling costs. The majority of the tickets for BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend 2016 will be allocated to people living in the local area.

A non-refundable event admin fee of £8.50 per ticket was applied to cover ticket handling, postage and other event administration costs.

There is no charge for the event itself.

Travelling to Powderham Castle

The best way to get to and from the site is by one of the special event bus services or by train. There will be some limited car parking available on-site, but this must be pre-booked and will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please note, due to road closures and for safety reasons, private cars will not be permitted to stop and drop off, or pick up, passengers close to the site, before or after the event.
