The 17th Roman River Festival is a festival of music, food, film and culture. The event takes place from Thursday 15th September until Sunday 2nd October 2016 at various locations in the coastal region of north-east Essex.
The festival takes place in ancient and atmospheric churches in the picturesque villages of Stoke by Nayland, Dedham, Fordham, Fingringhoe, East Mersea, Abberton and Lawford, and a Georgian townhouse in Colchester. The venues are intimate and most concerts sell out so be sure to book early to make sure of your seat.

The event boasts over 20 concerts given by 100 musicians, Anne-Marie Jacobs is the Roman River Musical Festival artist 2016, plus Orlando Jopling, Savitri Grier, Tom Poster and the Piatti Quartet, Anna Cornish and Peter Truin, James Gilchrist, Anna Tilbrook, Nathaniel Boyd, Sacconi Quartet, Dorian Kelly, Jon Boden, students at Colchester Institute, Sal Pittman, Matthew Hunt, Benjamin Nabarro, Alastair Beatson, Sacconi Quartet including Gwylim Simcock String Quartet, Dvorák String Quartet, Finbar Lynch, Marian Consort,Chris Woods, Sir Bob Russell, The Elysian Singers, Laura Caldow, Steve Reich, Benedetti Elschenbroich Grynyuk Trio, Kensington Brass, Jemma's Journey, The Miraculous Mandarin, Festival Choir, Festival Orchestra, and Tim Hugh.
The concerts are held in various venues around Colchester and ancient and beautiful churches along the Essex and Suffolk borders. Roman River Music also runs a schools programme in partnership with Essex Music Education Hub and with funding from Essex Community Foundation, offers opportunities for young people with the Youth Choir and Ensemble.

Ticket prices vary depending upon event with a festival pass also available.
Accommodation
Roman River Festival takes place in various villages in a beautiful coastal region of north-east Essex, with local wine and beer, smoked fish and wild scenery. There are a choice of B&Bs and places to eat in the area. The area is a few minutes drive from Colchester, within two hours drive of London and Cambridge and within an hours drive of Ipswich.
