Roots North is a new festival that takes place in the Yorkshire Market Town of Northallerton from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th September 2008.

The event features flamenco, folk, blues, jazz, and world music with plenty of children's fun and musical entertainment too.

Musicians confirmed for the event are as follows:
Friday:
Town Hall 8pm (m.c. Adrian O), Doctor Brown & The Groovecats, Lucy Ward, and Landermason (headlining). The evening will also include a display of championship clog dancing from Jane Williamson.
Durham Ox 8pm: Festival Fringe: Bob Fortune, Lucy Ward, Zeds Dead and Brother Crow.
The Wine Press 8pm Festival Fringe: Instrumental sounds from Graham Brotton and Mark Boden.

Saturday
Golden Lion Hotel Family Entertainment (£2): from 10am Jack Patch the funny old scarecrow with tall tales, poems, songs and fun. Plus Facepainting with The Facemaker. 11am Kids Jam Session with Katus Young and John Burns. Open to all young people of any age or ability. 12 noon African Drumming Workshop with Egwundu.
Golden Lion Hotel 2pm Afternoon Concert (m.c. Adrian O) with Mike Gatto, Landermason, and Egwundu.
Golden Lion Hotel 8pm The Roots North Evening Concert with Nakaira from Sicily, Katus, and Jane Williamson.
Golden Lion Hotel 11pm Late Club with Egwundu & The New Fusion from Africa, with Brother Crow

Sunday:
Town Hall 10am The Big Easy Café with The Groovediggers and poet Bob Beagrie.
Durham Ox 11am Festival Fringe: Meet the Evil Sweeties – a workshop.
Durham Ox 12noon - 4pm Festival Fringe: Tin Can, Bob Fortune, Evil Sweeties, Paul Staines, Lucy Ward, Blind Summat and poets Paul Staines & Bob Beagrie.
Town Hall 1pm Great North Roots Concert - Adrian O presents Gordon Tyrall, Diesel Therapy, Lucy Ward, Richard Grainger & Chris Parkinson, The Mick West Trio.
Venue TBC Richard Grainger invites you to The End of the World Club with the Evil Sweeties, Brother Crow, Tin Can and The Mick West Trio.

Tickets are available priced at £35 for a weekend ticket which will admit you to all of the weekends concerts and events, a weekend concession ticket is priced at £25, children (4-16) £10.

The festival will have concerts, a club Session, festival fringe, young folk, family fun, singarounds, late club, a musicians session, workshops and features international perfomers, local artists and other UK based acts of international standing. Saturday and Sunday mornings have fun activities for children and all the family.

The festival is a non-profit community based organisation.
