FREE
The FREE Sutton Coldfield Carnival takes place on the Meadow Platt in Sutton Park, Sutton Coldfield, in the West Midlands on Sunday 29th June from 11am. This annual event has over 50 years of tradition although it's morphed away from a traditional carnival in to something else over the years.
Line-up
There are no acts confirmed yet for 2014.
There will also be up to 50 stalls, food vendors and a large funfair on site, and the event is completely free.
Location
Sutton Coldfield is on the North East edge of Birmingham with a busy high street and array of shops. There are plenty of hotels and B&Bs to choose from and Sutton Park, Europe's largest urban public park, is very close by, as is the train station, just 10 minutes from Birmingham New Street station and only 5 minutes from the festival's epicentre.
The site was gifted to the people of Sutton Coldfield by King Henry VIII and is a conservation site with wild ponies, a donkey sanctuary, several lakes and ponds, a sea rangers and cadets base as well as a pub, restaurant, bistro, cafe and several childrens play areas.
Meadow Platt is immediately inside the main gate (Town Gate), within walking distance of the train station and Sutton Coldfield Town Centre. It is recommended people park/train in to Sutton Town rather than try their luck at parking in the park.
The event's numbers have grown steadily over the past couple of years since they reformatted to focus on live music. They hope to attract over 10,000 to the event.
Accommodation
This event does not have camping but there are a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the area.
