The Ramsgate Festival takes place at various buildings and spaces around Ramsgate, in Kent on August bank holiday weekend from Saturday 23rd until Sunday 31st July 2016, with an extra special event, Littoral Light, on the eve of the festival, Friday 22nd July.

Line-up

Events throughout the festival will be a mix of theatre, dance, music, outdoor performance, comedy and art. It's a very family-friendly festival, featuring some 100 professional artists.

Kicking off with free screenings of Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin Opera, by Garsington Opera. The Festival's Creative Producer this year is Teresa Askew. On Saturday 30th July there will be a market, stage, bands, seating and a bar at Harbour Parade, Pier Yard and Cross Wall, all day with a Sea life Parade and spectacular along Harbour Parade at 8:30pm.

The theme for this year is ‘On the wind and the waves, the sea brings us life' and there is a whole story behind that which will slowly unfold and become apparent during the Festival.

The End of the Pier Show , a variety show curated by Sadie Hennessey which will offer a diverse and unpredictable selection of modern variety acts, mixed with local talent. Acts confirmed already are: Mr Henry Dagg and his amazing Cat Orchestra, Miss Josephine Shaker – taking tap-dancing to the next level, The Fishy Pluckers with their ukulele sea-shanties and burlesque star Missy Maybe taking us on an unexpected trip to a nudist beach. This is a fancy dress event, the theme will be Sea Life, which will culminate in a Fancy Dress Parade, with an exciting prize going to the winner. The show’s compere is Miss Myra Dubois. The End of the Pier Show has an in-house band called 'The House Band From Hell'. The tone of the event is surreal and saucy with much emphasis put on audience participation. Its an over-18s event and not for the faint-hearted!
