TignesFest 2009

TignesFest, running from Thursday 16th until Sunday 19th April, is a FREE alpine music event held in one of the highest ski resorts in the world the Tignes Ski & Snowboard Resort, Tignes, in France. TignesFest features everything from live bands, to DJs and exclusive acoustic sets.

Confirmed acts include Black Peter Group, Danimal Kingdom, Gravity Co, Kym Brown, Losers, Melox Marvels, Midimidis , Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, Pablo Decoder, RGBs, Theoretical Girl, The Last Republic, Ryan Lauder, Underground Railroad, and White Wedding. Plus Autokratz live, Trash Fashion, Primary 1, Speakerjunk's Trevor Loveys, South Central, David E. Sugar, Alex Metric, Boy8-Bit, Naomi Roper, James Yuill, and The Shoes. Curating the show will be Kissy Sell Out, Eddy Temple Morris, The Loose Cannons.

Although this event is free, it's also in quite a remote area, and accommodation in the Tignes resort is priced around £300. There are airline flights to Lyon, Geneva, Grenoble, and Chambery. From any of the airports transfers are needed to Tignes.

Tignes is regarded as one of the world's most snow-sure ski areas for skiers and snowboarders alike. It has pistes to suit all, with the Naturides (ungroomed pistes) and the Spot (Skiing the Powder Of Tignes) zone, a cross between off-piste and a freestyle jumps park, and offpiste activities including snowmobiling, paragliding, ice diving, ice skating, horse riding, bowling and the Ice Museum. There are also many spas that offer sauna, Jacuzzi, and massages.
