This year Bestival are giving unsigned artists the chance to get themselves heard. The festival is running a competition in association with Rizla to pick one unsigned act to perform a 30 minute live set at this years Bestival.
Any unsigned act can submit a demo and enter the competition that will take place over two rounds. The first round will be open for submissions on 16th of June and close on 7th of July. For each round Rob da Bank and Rizla will choose the most inspiring track as well as 5 runners up tracks. All of those chosen will be podcast on www.inspired-by.co.uk/podcasting
Once the best tracks have been selected the competition will be open to public vote to decide who will go on to perform at this year's Bestival.
The winning bands performance at Bestival will be podcast again afterwards. Rob da Bank commented, The UK is producing some amazing new talent and I am really excited about Rizlas involvement in finding and supporting inspiring new acts. Hopefully this will give all budding musicians the chance to demonstrate their individuality and unique sound and offer them the notoriety they deserve.
The winner will get the opportunity to play in a line-up that includes Scissor Sisters, Pet Shop Boys, The Stranglers, Brakes, Hot Chip, Jim Noir, King Creosote, Mystery Jets, The Boy Least likely To, The Fall, The Noisettes, The Sunshine Underground and more.
Bestival have also announced the full line-up for The Blue Pavilion: inspired by...Rizla. This is a 24-hour, non-stop, ambient and electronica space showcasing experimental and downtempo DJs and bands. Rizla favourites The Bays curate the whole of Friday and pass on to Rob da Bank for the weekend.
