£87 for weekend with camping from Thursday
The first act for Bearded Theory the family friendly, laid back, fancy dress party with beards, bands and DJs has been revealed as Peter Hook and the Light performing a Joy Division and New Order classic set.
Now in it's 7th year the festival moves to a new venue Catton Hall, in Derbyshire (also the home of Bloodstock Open Air) and is held on Bank Holiday weekend from Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th May 2014 this year, with early entry available on Thursday (for no additional fee).
Organisers have released a statement saying,
"You might have read that Bearded Theory is on the move, to Catton Hall in Derbyshire which enables us to set permanent foundations for future years. This is an established festival location which has been home to Bloodstock and Big Session, and we’re really excited to be setting up home here.Straight away it means we can do more: the live in vehicle/caravan field has a large 2000 vehicle capacity ensuring that we will never sell out of passes and the largest hill is the size of a mole hill. A permanent road has been installed into the field ensuring easy entrance and exit regardless of weather conditions.
We are adding to our stages with the installation of The Nook a sound system and chill out area based in the woods. Family camping will now have its own designated field with a beautiful view of Catton Hall. The showers will remain free of charge in all campsites and finally all tickets now include Thursday camping.
Because of the move to the new site, we had to change our dates from what we originally planned, and we’ll now be holding the festival over the Bank Holiday weekend. Hopefully it doesn’t mean that any of you won’t be able to join us at our new home in 2014.
The line up will start to be announced over the coming weeks and we are delighted to announce Peter Hook & The Light will be performing a Joy Division and New Order classic set."
Every year Bearded Theory attempts to break the world record for the most amount of people wearing a fancy dress beards in one place and at one time. This year the event has a 9,999 capacity but attendance will be capped at 8,000.
