Durham International Brass Festival celebrates brass music from around the world, from the sounds of Eastern Europe, to those of New Orleans. This year's festival, which runs from Friday 5th until Sunday 21st July and brings together the best of current and emerging brass-inspired music.

Line-up

The first of around 60 bands to be announced are The Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, Hackney Colliery Band, The Grimethorpe Colliery Band, Zic Zazou, The Lake Poets & Stanhope Silver Band, and a screening of The Miners' Hymns and Tony Benn – Will & Testament .

Brass is everywhere and is used in all kinds of music - DIBF features performances of R'n'B, funk, soul, Balkan gypsy, traditional brass bands, classical and more.

With big names and big bands, the Durham Miners Gala, and various contests; plus other smaller up-and-coming acts and artists; as well as workshops, the festival has something for everybody.

Tickets

Performances are held at different venues across the city and county. Costs vary for each performance - many activities are free. Please note, events are not on sale yet.

Accommodation

This event does not have camping but there are a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the area.
