Durham International Brass Festival celebrates brass music from around the world, from the sounds of Eastern Europe, to those of New Orleans.
This year's festival, which runs from Thursday 14th until Sunday 17th July and brings together the best of current and emerging brass-inspired music.
Line-up
Ebony, Lindy Jazz, NYBB, Les Traine-Savates, Beat ‘n’ Blow, German Trombone Vibration, Oompah Brass, Always Drinking Marching Band, Funky Style Brass, Mr Wilson’s Second Liners, Les Bomb 'Zatomik, The Hot 8 Brass Band, and The Fairey Brass Band, expect around 60 or so bands.
There is also a number of commissions as part of the BRASS:Pitch series and there are loads of Supporting BRASS events from friends of the festival.
Brass is everywhere and is used in all kinds of music - DIBF features performances of R'n'B, funk, soul, Balkan gypsy, traditional brass bands, classical and more.
With big names and big bands, the Durham Miners Gala, and various contests; plus other smaller up-and-coming acts and artists; as well as workshops, the festival has something for everybody.
Tickets
Tickets are no yet on sale. Performances are held at different venues across the city and county. Costs vary for each performance - many activities are free.
Accommodation
This event does not have camping but there are a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the area.
