The Folk Weekend, now in its 29th year, is based on a single site which includes marquees, camping facilities, food stalls, trade stands, real-ale bar, real toilets, showers, children's entertainment plus Morris displays and pub sessions during the day in Ely City centre.
This is a small, friendly festival happening from Friday 11th until Sunday 13th July 2014, where artists play meet and greet 'unplugged' sessions, there is also a real ale bar, trade stalls, numerous concerts, dances, displays, sessions, ceilidhs and children's entertainment plus a programme of workshops.
Line-up
The latest additions are Dave Ferra, Little Rach, Robin Gillan & Leila Jane.
The late Friday night ceilidh will be led by Tickled Pink, the Saturday afternoon ceilidh is with The English String Band, and on Sunday evening Blackbeard's Tea Party completing the trio of ceilidhs this year. Other new line-up additions include Hannah Sanders, Jake Morrell, and Dave Ferra.
Acts already booked (subject to contract) so far include Eddi Reader (Sunday evening concert), Steve Knightley, Breabach, Vin Garbutt, Chris While & Julie Matthews, Colvin Quarmby, Something Nasty in the Woodshed, Phillip Henry & Hannah Martin, Baka Beyond, Martyn Joseph, The Gren Bartley Band, The Jigantics, Elvis Fontenot & the Sugar Bees, The New Rope String Band, Chris While & Julie Matthews, The Carrivick Sisters, Flats & Sharps, Pat Crilly & Greg Camburn, The Duncan McFarlane Band, and Jim Moray.
The Friday Night Showcase, a celebration of local music talent will present Jake Morrell, Hannah Sanders, Worry Dolls and Novinka Folskaband.
Boo Hewerdine is patron to Ely Folk Festival.
Accommodation
There is ample space for tents and caravans on site, and free parking is provided close to the festival site. There are also plenty of alternative accommodation available in Ely. Ely city centre is easily accessible by the organised shuttle bus (or 20 minutes walk).
Tickets
Early bird tickets are available at 2013 prices. A weekend adult ticket is priced at £64 (£54 concessions); kids tickets for those aged 10-17 yrs are £22.
Camping is priced at £10, or £5 for kids, each camping is charged per person whether it's a tent, or in a campervan or a caravan. If booking a camping ticket (only available for weekend ticket holders), you will need to also purchase a camping pitch at £1 per tent, caravan or camper van.
A Friday only ticket is priced at £20, a day Saturday ticket is priced at £36, and all day Sunday tickets priced at £32.
