The Flying Pig Festival

last updated: Thu 7th Jul 2016

The Flying Pig is an annual small family friendly charity festival which takes place on Sandhill Farm airfield near Shrivenham in Oxfordshire.

Since 2008, the event has taken place on the site of an active gliding club, The Vale of White Horse Gliding Centre.

In it's first years the event was called the Hangar Party and Hog Roast, and the name Flying Pig Festival comes from combining the idea of a hog roast with gliding. As the event has grown it has become impractical to do the hog roast as an implicit part of the event although one of the food vendors now does an ad hoc hog roast as required.

In 2013 the event expanded to become a two day event with camping, and 2014 another day was added. In 2015 the event took a year out, and is yet to return.
