UPDATE: 3rd August 2020: Ireby festival has now been postponed until 2022. Organiser's statement.
===========
This festival has been cancelled, says a statement posted on the festival's website. The statement reads as follows:-
It is with great regret that the Committee and the Directors of the Ireby Festival 2020 have to announce its cancellation for this year and postponement until May 2021.
As you know, Ireby Festival has always been run with the community in mind by volunteers, not for profit and has had no commercial financial input. We are grateful for the support granted to us by the previous Ireby Festival committee.
There are significant costs in running a festival. In the current climate of growing Public Health concern relating to COVID19 (Coronavirus), against which there is no insurance available, we are mindful of the potential health and financial implications.
Whilst having reached 70% ticket sales, with coronavirus concerns and the risk of future Government measures; that we are unable to insure the coronavirus risk, and guarantee income, we are unable to continue with the Ireby Festival in 2020.
We would like to offer our sincere thanks to everyone who has supported our endeavour to retain the festival in 2020.
As well as a full refund being available, we would like to offer all ticket holders and participants the opportunity to retain their tickets and join us for Ireby Festival 2021.
