Fuse Medway Festival is a FREE event. The weekend celebration of arts and creativity will take place from Friday 15th to Sunday 17th June 2012.

This year's event promises to bring even more colourful sights and sounds to Medway's open spaces, from vibrant street theatre to world-class dance and circus acts.

Fuse Medway Festival will be a free celebration of arts that is different, diverse and daring. They aim to showcase some of the best emerging and established performers from across Medway and Europe. They are also working with hundreds of local residents from many community groups.

Line-up

Friday
Festival Opening - 4.30 – 7.30pm, Gillingham
4.30pm Gillingham High Street: opening parade which celebrates the River Medway and its heritage.
5.30pm (pre-show) for a 5.45pm start, Balmoral Gardens - Central School of Speech & Drama's special commission for Fuse Whatever Floats Your Boat'.
Green Street, 6.45pm - Tangled Feet's All That Is Solid Melts Into Air

Saturday
Fuse Street Arts Day 12noon – 5pm, Chatham High Street and Riverside. Street theatre, dance, circus and music including Dante or Dies's La Fille A La Mode.
Fevered Sleep's Little Universe (premiere) - in a brand new performance for 3 & 4 year olds.
Jane Pitt's Ri-zound takes the festival to the river with Medway voices aboard the Kingswear Castle Paddle Steamer.
Etta Ermini Dance Theatre's Roadworks is an urban dance-theatre piece.
Master Juba - The Wonder of the World reclaims the streets with a frenzy of beats, a call and a song, improvised tap and the heart of the drum in the tale of Juba.
Two Monty Python-esque figures are Accidental Collective's EveryONE's Looking for SomeONE - theatrical sketches: from the tale of Zeus to cheesy Barbara Streisand love songs.
The acrobatic fools from Bureau of Silly Ideas' The Small Job make a song and dance out of road works and Spread the Love from What's Coming Out of the Box? presents a walkabout piece exploring sensory responses to the question: What is Love?
Plus Los Kaos' Meet the Dinosaur, Dance Alley, PifPaf's Submercycle, classic comedy routines from Rannel's Fhlip Fhlop, a musical journey with Reckless Invention's Temple of Boom and the amazing Padox by French Compagnie Houdart-Heuclin.

Barricade, 9 pm, Great Lines Heritage Park - No Fit State Circus' new show is a story of separation and unity, acrobats, aerialists and tightrope walkers.

Sunday
Fuse Big Picnic, 12noon – 5pm, Rochester Castle Gardens. Street theatre, dance, circus and music including Central School of Speech & Drama's Whatever Floats Your Boat (Rochester Castle Moat, 11.30am pre-show for show at 12noon, Rebecca Ashton, Sophie Fuller and Alix Godden's Changes in the Current, a dance promenade which shares stories and memories of The River Medway supported by music, photographs and the written word, Dans la Poche's Identi-Tea, Dizzy O'Dare presents The Last Apothecary, Estelle Rosenfield's The Tortoise and The Hare, and another Fuse commission – this time Picnic from Etta Ermini Dance Theatre.
Fevered Sleep is back with Little Universe. Kawa Circus comes all the way from India with its tyrannical director, traditional dancer, acrobats, pole-vaulter and musician. The Institute for Crazy Dancing provides a centrepiece with their slowly rotating Life Boat.
The Horsemen by French company Les Goulus by new Artistic Director Lélia Gréci. Also Frolicked's The Alchemist, Company Chameleo's Search & Find, Canopy's The Preeners, The Pineapple Car from Bureau of Silly Ideas and Padox by Compagnie Houdart-Heuclin.
The Fuse Picnic Finale is presented by French circus Les Krilati with their piece Fando Comme Lis, a modern, burlesque, tender and poetic mime show. (Rochester Castle Moat, 5 pm).

Accommodation

This event does not have camping but there are a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the area.
