Fuse Medway Festival is a FREE event. The weekend celebration of arts and creativity will take place from Friday 13th to Sunday 15th June 2014.
This year's event promises to bring even more colourful sights and sounds to Medway's open spaces, from vibrant street theatre to world-class dance and circus acts.
Fuse Medway Festival will be a free celebration of arts that is different, diverse and daring. They aim to showcase some of the best emerging and established performers from across Medway and Europe. They are also working with hundreds of local residents from many community groups.
Line-up
A taste of this year’s line-up includes Bad Taste Company; Les Enfants Terribles’ Imaginary Menagerie - an exotic caravan complete with Vaudeville acts, live musicians and puppeteers; circus acts from Belgium; The Smallest Theatre in the World mounted on a motorbike sidecar - or the tiny and eccentric Smallest hotel in the World; a chance to play the Crimplene Millionaire boardgame; a dance-theatre mini gig for the under-5s inspired by the children’s poetry of Russian Daniil Kharms and a market stall with a difference where high-octane parkour, dance and circus skills encourage children to eat their fruit and parents to run off with the circus!
As the World Tipped from Wired Aerial Theatre is on Saturday night mixing film and visuals and breath-taking aerial performance high in the night sky.
Three performances have been specially created by local artists for Fuse. In One Day Works Nicole Mollett will bring together performers, film-makers, print makers and artists who will each celebrate Medway using a silver converted 1950s Airstream caravan that is the Kent Cultural Baton – as a base. Knuckle and Joint Theatre Company will create a walkabout street theatre spectacle through Save the Lyma Birds! using puppets, and Squarecube Artisans’ Comic Cuts led by local artist Richard Jeferies will create black and white comic book silhouettes to bring a new dimension to public spaces around Medway.
And Fuse will also mark the anniversary of the First World War with a family friendly show telling the untold stories of the Medway area created specially for Fuse by the Central School of Speech and Drama– Home Fires.
