Presenting a line-up of old and new bands and DJs with a Scottish element, as well as film, comedy and debate held in the landscape of Cairngorm National Park in the shadow of the Cairngorm Mountains on Rothiemurchus Estate on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th June 2009.

Sharleen Spiteri is the main music tent headliner on the Saturday, and Teenage Fanclub on the Sunday. Joining them will be King Creosote, Lau<, McCusker/Drever/Woomble, Malcolm Middleton, James Yorkston and 'very' special guests, Karine Polwart, The Phantom Band, Attic Lights, and We Were Promised Jetpacks.

The Club Tent will play host to two nights of DJs with Motherfunk leading the way on Saturday night with special guest DJ Chris Geddes (Belle & Sebastian), and Sunday night welcomes Propaganda, with special guests The Futureheads, and DJ Adam Ficek.

The Outsider offers a range of outdoor activities both inside and outside the arena including the The Outsider also offers a wide range of outdoor activities both inside and outside the arena in some of the most magnificent scenery in the Highlands. Events include the OutRunner, a 12k Run around Loch An Eilein, and the OutRider 4, a world-class mountain bike event.

Both events have developed considerably from the Outsider 2007 with the addition of the Rothie Relay, a 4 lap relay run which follows part of the 12k route (each lap is approx 5/6K), and the Outsider Duathlon for those wishing to participate in both the run and ride events over the weekend. Registration is required to participate in these events through the Eventry link on the tickets page of the festival's website.

Plus, there is opportunities to go hiking, strolling, running, gorge-walking, river rafting, mountain climbing, nature watching, stargazing and loads more. In addition to loads of bands and DJs, expect movies, comedy/cabaret and a full programme for kids.

With a strong environmental agenda The Outsider isn't hiding from the issues. It's a festival for people who care about the world and want to participate rather than just consume.

Tickets are on sale, prices as follows:

Campervan/caravan voucher (1 per vehicle ) £12.

Please note if you are bringing a campervan you do not need a parking pass as well.
Children aged 5 - 12 years must have a suitable ticket. The under 5s go free (they will be issued with a wristband on arrival). All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Outsider 09 will have an expanded and different layout from Outsider 07 with more camping, more going on and more facilities. All food and drink will be selected, local, organic where possible and always top quality.

During the day The Blue Planet Tent will host The Outsider Forum. The forum will bring together key environmentalists and climate change experts to discuss pressing environmental issues, and at night it will play host to DJs.

Glenmore Lodge and many local activity providers will offer a range of both off-site and festival arena activities from wild life watching and gorge walking to Canadian canoeing on the Spey and rock climbing in locations around the national park. Many activities and shows will be included in the ticket price, some will require pre-booking and some are offered at a special festival rate.

The Outsider campsite will be adjacent to the arena and will offer both quiet camping and boutique camping (details of which will be announced later). A drop-off arrangement will be offered to families. But parking is adjacent and only minutes away (though festival-goers may elect to park in Aviemore, a 20-minute walk or 5-minute shuttle bus away). The event arena will be open from 10am until 11pm on both days with the campsite open from noon on Friday 26th until noon Monday 29th June.

The Merida Outsider will be part of the Merida Bikes MTB Marathon Series and takes place on Saturday. With three different distances – 20km, 45km and 65km – this will be a mountain bike event for all abilities who can experience a course on world-class trails through stunning scenery.

Britain's Most Beautiful Run is a 12k trail run appealing to runners of all abilities. The route follows trails through stunning scenery along the shores of Loch an Eilean and through the Rothiemurchus estate.
