The Rivenstone Festival of Sacred World Music on Dartmoor takes place from Saturday the 25th to Monday 27th of August 2007, running from 11am until midnight each night.

The festival is set in the heart of Dartmoor’s wild hills. Bands due to play on the Saturday include The Exile Project, Nigel Shaw, Carolyn Hillyer & guests, Neuneneu: Marlui Miranda & Ravi Amazonian, Indian Songs & African Kora Longsho with Shelok Tsering, Traditional music from Tibetan exiles, Guillermo Martinez Aztec traditional dances, Hiroki Okano & Minalu Hiroko Shinto music & dance, Domenic DeCicco, Tim Wheater & Natalie Shaw Meditational sacred sound and Dragonfly Moon drum party.

Music on the Sunday will include Bamboo Cedar Oak, Brotherhood of flute players: Nigel Shaw, Guillermo Martinez & Hiroki Okano, Praying For The Rain Tribe of musicians, Julie Felix, Michael Ormiston & Candida Valentino, Altai Himalaya, S’anaa Haida Raven, Rigantona Ancient & medieval northern European music, Carolyn Hillyer Drum Songs, Scott Jasper & Susan Garlick.

There will also be pre-booked workshops & talks from 10am including Guillermo Martinez (sacred flute circle & Aztec dances), Michael Ormiston & Candida Valentino (Mongolian Khoomi & Tibetan bowls), Hiroki Okano (Shinto ceremony), Minalu Hiroko (ceremonial Japanese dance), Greta Huuva & Gun Hofgaard (Saami sacred drum culture, Arctic herbs and reindeer rattles), Tim Wheater & Natalie Shaw (sacred sound), Mark Robson (didgeridoo circle), Ravi (African Kora), Marlui Miranda (Amazonian Indian songs), Kate Fletcher & Corwen ap Broch (nature scale flutes & ancient European instruments), Haida Raven and Eagle Clans (traditional totem pole carving and clan dances).

The Monday will include a programme of specialist workshops (all day & half-day) focused on creating ancient musical instruments, exploring tribal culture and journeying into the spirit of music, plus tribal circle and ceremony in the evening.

There will also be free camping, organic and vegetarian food, locally brewed ales, organic wines in a candlelit grove, trading tent stalls including music, instruments and tribal craft products.

Weekend tickets (for Saturday & Sunday including 3 nights camping)cost £79. Single tickets (for Saturday OR Sunday including 2 nights camping) cost £40. Young people (8-15) go for half price, and children (under 7) get free entry.
