The 12th Roman River Festival is a festival of French music, food, film and culture. The event takes place from Saturday 1st until Sunday 9th October 2011 at various locations in the coastal region of north-east Essex.
Seven churches along the Roman River valley in Essex with Messing and Great Wigborough Churches joining Abberton, Copford, East Mersea, Fingringhoe, Layer Marney and Peldon - will resonate with music played by national and international classical, jazz, folk and world musicians.
Line-up
2011's theme of Heaven and Hell will include featured artists Matthew Hunt and the Oslo-based Engegård Quartet, which includes cellist, Adrian Brendel. The choral scholar concert expands this year to a fully professional choir with an all-classical programme. There will be Handel arias in East Mersea and a ceilidh to round things off. Starting off the festival will be Music Days Director, Dominic Harlan, who will create a performance of La Bohème from scratch over the first weekend of the festival. The opera will be open to all ages and experience.Saturday 1st October:

Roman River Festival takes place in various villages in a beautiful coastal region of north-east Essex, with local wine and beer, smoked fish and wild scenery. There are a choice of B&Bs and places to eat in the area. The area is a few minutes drive from Colchester, within two hours drive of London and Cambridge and within an hours drive of Ipswich.More information will be here when available.
