Whitby Sea Festival is based at The Met on West Cliff ( formerly The Metropole Hotel) where most of the concerts and sessions will take place. Additional events are also planned at The Whitby Museum in Pannett Park over the weekend of Friday 12th until Sunday 14th July 2013.
Line-up
Acts confirmed are Steve Turner, Richard Grainger, Monkeys Fist, Steve Dawes & Helen Pitt, Alan Whitbread, Devils Water, Beggars Bridge, Malcolm Ward, Jim Saville, Direction Corsaires ( Belgium), Chris Ricketts, Aroha2Aloha Dance Group, with more to be announced.
Tickets
An adult weekend ticket is priced at £25, or concession (65 & over, unwaged, student) £20. A Friday evening adult ticket is priced at £8, Saturday full day and evening ticket is priced at £15, or £10 just for the evening. A Sunday all day ticket is priced at £7. To buy tickets, click here.
Other activities
The maritime festival also has plenty of family and children's entertainment, including face painting, concerts, Song Sessions, Song Competition, a Pirate Party, and more.
Folk Singer Derek Gifford presents ' A Brief History of Shanties' and 'Folk Songs Of The Sea' while Yorkshire Poet Jim Saville will present the works of acclaimed maritime poet Cicely Fox Smith and 'The Rise of Maritime Poetry over 2 millennia'.
Accommodation
This event does offer weekend camping (Friday and Saturday) at a price of £10 for adults, and £5 for children (aged 6 to 16 years), and there are also a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the area.
