Short Circuit is a festival of pioneering electronic artists held at London's, Roundhouse from Thursday 13th until Sunday 17th May. The inaugural five day festival is dedicated entirely to the appreciation and exploration of electronica.

The event will include performances by the genres most influential pioneers who started out over 50 years ago. There will be four performances in the Main Space as well as screenings, talks, workshops, installations and collaborations.

The line-up is as follows with much more to be announced:
Main Space:

Holger Czukay
Thu 14th May 2009 - Main Space
Using both video and audio this performance will lead the listener through all stages of Czukay's work staring with a homage to Karlheinz Stockhausen, a live remix of Canaxis, previously unheard CAN material and his own re-released back catalogue.

A Taste Of Sonar
Fri 15th May 2009 - Main Space & Dr. Martens FREEDM Studio
Barcelona?s 'Sónar' festival makes a special appearance at Short Circuit. In the Main Space artists include Jeff Mills with his project "The Trip", Erol Alkan presents disco 3000, Moderat, Roland Olbeter+Tim Exile+Jon Hopkins. In the studio space Mary Anne Hobbs presents: Pinch, Ikonika, Bullion & Paul White among other artists to be confirmed.

DITTO (Do It Together. Once)
Sat 16th May 2009 - (performance starts 8.30pm) Roundhouse
Ditto takes artists and audience on a journey through Creation, Joy, Love, Despair, Hope, Destruction and Farewell. With international musicians influenced by dance, electronica and sonic landscapes composing, contributing and performing new works. The line-up includes Sander Kleienberg, Rolando Rocha, Fluke / 2BIT, John Hendicott, Bruno Dias, Mieko Shimizu and Mike Wilson (Oil Productions), Richard Norris (Beyond The Wizards Sleeve), and St. Paul's Boys Choir scored by Chris Craker (Equilibrium). The project brings together 23 newly commissioned pieces of visual art, with accompanying composed soundtracks delivered in a mixture of live and pre-recorded performance and a global web cast. At the end of the event all the performance material is permanently erased and will never be replayed. This is a one-time event.

Touch presents
Sat 16th May 2009 - Main Space
Touch presents some of the most influential composers of the experimental scene, Philip Jeck and the Gavin Bryars Ensemble. Gavin Bryars' first major composition written in 1969 was inspired by firsthand accounts of the sinking of the Titanic. Biosphere - Norwegian Geir Jensson is a masterful sculptor of ambient sounds. Hildur Gudnadottir & BJ Nilsen create warm, minimalistic and melancholic soundscapes.

The Radiophonic Workshop
Sun 17th May 2009 - Main Space
Born out of a desire to create 'new kinds of sounds' they created the sounds for cult classics like Doctor Who and Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy. Still pioneering, in 2002 four ex-members of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop re-formed to create the soundtrack for "Generic Sci Fi Quarry". Now, they get together again to explore Radiophonics past, present, and future.

Leading international visual and sonic artists collaborate on a multi-media exploration of the human condition, taking inspiration from iconic literature and poetry.

Skinstrument
14 - 17 May - The Dorfman Hub
An installation which enables several players to simultaneously generate sounds by touching each other on the skin. When players touch one of the semi spheres they become part of an electronic circuit consisting of a tiny, imperceptible current. The intensity of the touch determines the modulation of the sound.
