Soundwaves is dedicated to new and experimental music, and takes place across Brighton and Hove for three days from Friday 15th to Sunday 17th July. Events are held at various locations and there are several free events taking place around the town too.

Line-up

Friday: Move -An evening of music, movement and dance at The Sallis Benney Theatre: with Leafcutter John, Lucia Tong, Matthew Shlomowitz, Shila Anaraki, The NKR, Andre Borges.
Saturday 16: Sing - An evening all about the voice at Brighton Town Hall: with David Thomas (from Pere Ubu), Mikhail Karikis, Gazelle Twin, Chroma ensemble, Amy Cunningham, Claudia Kappenberg.
Sunday: Listen - An evening of 'silent' performances and headphone music at The Sallis Benney Theatre: with Scanner, Mira Calix, Me and Machine, Martin Parker, Scott Smith, Jamie Crofts/ Duncan Bullen, and London Short Film Festival screenings by Kayla Parker & Stuart Moore, Max Hattler, Julian Hand, Naren Wilks.

Soundwaves will offer festival goers installations to explore, video art, performance art, music theatre, concerts, ensemble performances, outdoor events, a symposium and much more is promised. Coming from across Britain to Brighton, over 100 artists with more than 20 new works will appear in public spaces, foyers and theatres to explore the entertaining possibilities of what music can be. These include:
Soundwalk: Take part in free soundwalks by Angus Carlyle at Brighton & Hove Museum and Joanna Brown on top of a car park.
Phone-in: An interactive installation by Jan Hendrikse at the Lighthouse Gallery. Liberating the Voice: A free creative workshop exploring the human voice and all its facets, directed by Adam Swayne at Brighton Unitarian Church - Saturday 16 July.

A strong visual thread runs through the festival.

Tickets prices have not been confirmed and are not yet on sale.

Accommodation

Festival goers will need to find themselves accommodation whilst the festival is on as there is no camping facilities at the event.
