Durham International Brass Festival celebrates brass music from around the world, from the sounds of Eastern Europe, to those of New Orleans. This year's festival, which runs from Sunday 1st until Tuesday 17th July and brings together the best of current and emerging brass-inspired music.

Jools Holland and His Rhythm & Blues Orchestra with Roland Gift, Ruby Turner, Louise Marshall and acclaimed trombonist Rico Rodriguez, Tony Benn, Francesca Massey and Northern Sinfonia Brass Players, Macnas, soloists Penelope Randall-Davis soprano and Roderick Earle with James Edwards and Austin Gunn, Nicole et Martin present 'The Musicians of Bremen', The Chorister School, Onyx Brass, The Stooges Brass Band, Brighouse and Rastrick Band, Darlington Big Band, Durham Miners' Association Brass Band and Beat 'n' Blow, Glisssssendo, Northern Sinfonia and Durham Cathedral Evensong, Aether and Hemera, Cabinet of Curiosity, Modular Projects, Surface Area Dance Theatre, The Forge, Scanner, Brass The Baton, Perhaps Contraption, Brasta, Oompah Brass, Jazz Combo Box, Funky Style Brass, Wonderbrass, La Banda de la MarĂ­a, Pink Puffers, Cottas Club, Bandakadabra, Jazz In My Pants, Funky Style Brass, The Ant Orkezdra with Trimdon Concert Band.

Brass is everywhere and is used in all kinds of music - DIBF features performances of R'n'B, funk, soul, Balkan gypsy, traditional brass bands, classical and more.

With big names and big bands, the Durham Miners Gala, and various contests; plus other smaller up-and-coming acts and artists; as well as workshops, the festival has something for everybody.

Tickets

Performances are held at different venues across the city and county. Costs vary for each performance - many activities are free. Please note, not all events are on sale yet.

Accommodation

This event does not have camping but there are a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the area.
