The Whitby Sea Festival will be the town's celebration of the sea in a brand new annual event to be held from Friday 20th until Sunday 22nd July 2012 at the Resolution Hotel, the Whitby Museum and around the historic seaport of Whitby.

The festival celebrates Whitby and the Yorkshire Coast's connections to fishing, the sea and maritime heritage. The festival replaces Seafest in Scarborough.

Line-up

Acts confirmed are Wendy Arrowsmith, Steve Dawes & Helen Pitt, Direction Corsaires, Karnos Circus, Glen Coggin, Martin Curtis, Monkeys Fist, Bill Adair, Richard Grainger, Robert Hartley, The Sail Pattern, Aroha 2 Aloha, Blue Sun, Tom & Barbara Brown, Chris Milner, Robert Hartley, Men of Staithes, The Ramshackle Shantymen, Devils Water, Alan Whitbread, Darkley Circus, John Ward, Stormcrow, Malcolm Ward, and Pirate Jam Band.

Other activities

This year most of the activities will be centred around the recently re-furbished Resolution Hotel, where there'll be music throughout Friday, Saturday and Sunday including a Pirate Party for the kids and an appearance of America's favourite Pirate Jam Band, 'There Be Pirates'.

Accommodation

This event does not have camping but there are a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the area.
