Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod has run every summer since 1947. Each year around 4,000 performers converge on Llangollen a small Welsh town to sing and dance in a unique combination of music, dance and international peace and friendship.

The Eisteddfod will take place from Monday 4th until Sunday 10th July 2011 at the Royal International Pavilion in Llangollen.

Line-up

Six days of music and folk dance from all over the world in one place! More than 4,000 competitors, from over 50 countries will take part, including some rare visitors from South Korea, China, Moldova, and Slovakia.

Monday 4th July
Evening Concert: Lulu and Friends: Opening Gala Concert 7.45pm
Special Guests: Rick Astley and Kiki Dee

Tuesday 5th July
Daytime: International Children's Day
Strains of Hope: On the field, 5000 children will be transported to Africa, the Caribbean and the Americas, in a day of performances and workshops showcasing music and dance from around the world.
School children from the Chirk and Glyn Ceiriog area, Alex Pascall, Steven Sogo and his band Hope Street will perform.

The Parade: Parade of Nations: 4.30pm

Evening Concert: Russell Watson – La Voce: 7.45pm
Russell will be performing with The National Symphony Orchestra, Conductor: Robert Emery. Special Guest: Faryl Smith

Wednesday 6th July
Daytime: A Feast of Costume, Music and Dance.
Senior Children's Choirs, Traditional Folk Dance Groups, Vocal Solo under 15 years of age, Vocal Solo aged 15-20, Instrumental Solo under 18 years of age, Dancing in the Street
On the field: Dance workshops and World Music performances.

Evening Concert: One World, One Stage, One Llangollen Welcome (including the Welcome Ceremony and Procession). 7.45pm.
Tickets: £15 (children £5)

Thursday 7th July
Daytime: Join the musical party; a day full of competitions for young performers with dazzling talent. A thousand children perform - Junior Children's Choirs, Children's Folk Dance, Youth Choirs Songs from the Show's Final, Vocal Solo, 21 yrs of age and over Final, Instrumental Solo over 18 yrs of age Final, Dancing in the Street, Folk Dance Duos Final, Individual Folk Dance Final.
12 noon: Sound of Silence - the whole Pavilion and field fall silent, everyone links arms, and the Llangollen Message of Peace is broadcast to the world.
On the field: music and dancing, with a flavour of the exotic.
@6 Concert: Community Choir Fest with Codi Canu, Côr Rhos a’r Cylch and Llangollen's own community Choir.

Evening Concert: Noye's Fludde 7.45pm
The local community joins in a performance of Britten's masterpiece including 300 children, soloists and instrumentalists. The story of Noah & the Ark will also be told

Friday 8th July
NEW: Daytime: Folk Friday
New for the festival is a special day devoted to British and world folk music. Fabulous Folk and Choral performances, including Celtic groups, and uniquely inspiring inclusive singing, dance and theatre perfomances on the field and outside stage. A special line-up of folk artists will entertain crowds gathering on the field on Friday 8th July. The artists include Emily Smith, Jamie Smith's Mabon, Martyn Joseph, Nancy Kerr and James Fagan, Les Barker, 9 Bach, Bartram, Brookes and Weatherall, Ty Elise, and Laura Connolly and Dave Oliver. Llangollen Eisteddfod has a special offer on tickets for this Folk Friday as part of its 65th Birthday Celebrations. Ticket Offer: Tickets just £5 on until 14th June. £10, £12, £15 after.

Ruthie Henshall - The Best of the West End: 8pm.

Saturday 9th July
International Family Day.
Daytime: One Day, A Thousand Voices with traditional male and female choirs including Barbershop and Show choirs: the daytime competitions reach a climax.
On the field: A Festival within a Festival. Music, dance, arts, crafts, story-telling, demonstrations and competitions for all.

Evening Concert: Choir of The World, with Julian Lloyd Webber (Cello)
Acknowledged as the world best choir competition, preceded by the 'best of the rest' from all over the globe.

Sunday 10th July
NEW Daytime: Sunday on the Field - bands and solo artists play on the field from 2pm.

Evening Concert: McFly, 7.45pm
Tickets: £35 (seated and standing; standing aged 14 and over), £25 (seated)

A 'Platinum Season' ticket for all events from Monday to Saturday will be priced at £200 (Celebrity evening concert ticket prices varies), there will also be individual event tickets available, and tickets are not yet on sale. All Folk Friday (8th) ground admission tickets purchased before the 14th June will be available with a 50% discount and will start at just £5. This event does not have camping but there are a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the area.
