Music for Africa

last updated: Tue 16th Feb 2016

Music for Africa was founded by Tom Toomey in 1999 with the aim of raising money to put music into the lives of the children of Phokwane, South Africa. Funds raised through these annual concerts enable them to buy instruments, find, train and pay the wages of local music teachers and even help build new classrooms.

Alongside the concerts (with up to six bands each night), there is a Beer Tent serving real ale, a bouncy castle, a raffle, a range of foods to suit dietry tastes, and free parking all made available in the grounds of a beautiful National Trust estate, Montacute House in Somerset.

It was announced in 2010 that the festival would not be happening again.
